Printmaking process

Printmaking is an ancient artistic process, historians conclude that printmaking originated in China around AD 105.  I accidentally registered for a printmaking class in 2018 and fell in love immediately.  Printmaking is an artistic process which involves a reverse concept of image transferring.  One attractive feature of printmaking is that the artist can recreate one design multiple times.  

The artist creates their work on a surface, then transfers that image onto another surface, such as fabric or paper.  Traditional techniques include etching, woodcarving, engraving and lithography.  There are four general categories of printmaking.  If you want to know more, check out the gallery of printmaking processes!
